I made a grave mistake in checking the area for First Man showings - I let it default to today's date. So I'm wondering for people familiar with both technologies, what would you recommend? Is the screen in the D-BOX theater also XD? In that case no further discussion is necessary, my problem is solved, but it seems like I have to choose one or the other. However, the extra dynamic range, brightness, screen size, and sharpness of XD would certainly look amazing, especially for the IMAX portion (not the real thing, but better than my local theater for sure). I think it could actually add to the experience and not be a gimmick. I've never been to a D-BOX movie before, but if there's ever a use-case for it, it seems like this would be it, with the launches, the shaky rattly spacecraft, etc. There's a Cinemark near where I'll be staying that appears to be offering First Man in both D-BOX and in XD. I'm going to be taking a trip to Des Moines this weekend and actually want to see it again. I saw First Man at my local theater using MoviePass and loved it.
